Respite Care (Short Term Accommodation)
Flexible in-home respite care and short-term accommodation support for participants, older people, families and carers.
EC Care provides flexible respite care and short-term accommodation support for people who need safe, reliable assistance while giving families and carers time to rest, recharge or attend to other responsibilities.
Our respite services can be arranged for a few hours, days, weekends or longer periods, depending on the person’s needs, funding and care plan. Support may be provided in the home, in a centre-based setting, or through short-term accommodation where appropriate.
Whether respite is needed through aged care, NDIS, private care or another approved pathway, EC Care focuses on creating a safe, respectful and engaging experience that supports independence, choice, wellbeing and quality of life.

Respite care provides temporary support for people who need assistance with daily living, personal care, community access or supervision, while also giving family members and carers a valuable break from their caring role.
EC Care can provide respite support that is tailored to each person’s needs, interests, routines and goals. Depending on the participant or client, respite may include in-home support, centre-based respite, short-term accommodation, excursions, structured activities, social opportunities and support with daily living tasks.
Respite care is not only about time away. It can also help people build confidence, enjoy new experiences, participate in age-appropriate activities, connect with others and develop everyday living skills in a safe and supported environment.
For carers and families, respite can provide peace of mind knowing that their loved one is receiving professional, compassionate support while they take time to rest, work, travel, recover or manage other commitments.
Respite needs can vary from person to person. Some people may only need support for a few hours, while others may require overnight, weekend or longer short-term accommodation support. EC Care works with each person, family and care team to arrange support that is practical, safe and person-centred.
Our team can assist with personal care, daily living support, transport, activities, behaviour support plans, post-hospital care and 24-hour support where available and appropriate.
Respite Care may support people who need temporary assistance, supervision, personal care, daily living support, community access or short-term accommodation.
This service may suit NDIS participants, older Australians, people recovering after hospitalisation, people with complex or changing care needs, and families or carers who need time to rest or manage other responsibilities.
It may also help people who would benefit from new experiences, social activities, supported routines, structured group participation or safe short-term care outside their usual home environment.
Respite care and short-term accommodation may be accessed through different funding pathways depending on the person’s eligibility, circumstances and care needs.
Support may be available through My Aged Care, Support at Home, Home Care, NDIS, private care arrangements or another approved care pathway. The right option will depend on the client’s assessment, funding approval and the type of respite support required.
If you are unsure how to arrange respite care, EC Care can help explain the available options and discuss the next steps for support at home, in the community or through short-term accommodation.
