Supported Independent Living
Safe, supportive accommodation and daily living assistance to help participants build independence, confidence and shared living skills.
EC Care provides Supported Independent Living services for participants who need assistance with daily living, shared accommodation, supervision and support to develop greater independence.
Our respectful and skilled staff work with participants to build confidence, maintain daily routines, develop shared living skills and take part in everyday life in a safe and supportive home environment.
Supported Independent Living can assist participants with personal care, daily living tasks, behaviour support plans, complex care needs and the transition into supported accommodation. EC Care focuses on creating a stable, respectful and person-centred living environment where participants are supported to work towards their individual goals.

Supported Independent Living, often called SIL, is designed for NDIS participants who need regular support to live as independently as possible. This may include help with daily routines, personal care, household tasks, meal preparation, medication prompts, social skills, shared living responsibilities and supervision.
EC Care provides supportive accommodation services that encourage participants to develop independence while having access to the help they need. Our team works with each participant to understand their routines, preferences, support needs, communication style and personal goals.
Living in a shared home can help participants build practical skills, confidence and social connection. EC Care supports participants with shared living responsibilities, decision-making, daily routines and the development of skills that can improve independence over time.
Support may include help with personal care, daily living tasks, cooking, cleaning, household participation, community access and implementing individual positive behaviour support plans where required.
Moving into supported accommodation can be a major life change for participants and families. EC Care can help make the transition smoother by working with participants, families, guardians, support coordinators and other care professionals to understand what support is needed.
The aim is to create a safe, stable and respectful home environment where participants feel supported, included and able to work towards their personal goals.
EC Care also provides Specialist Disability Accommodation, known as SDA, where suitable and available. SDA is designed for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs who require homes with accessible features that allow support to be delivered more safely and effectively.
SDA eligibility is determined through the NDIS and depends on the participant’s functional needs, accommodation requirements and funding criteria.
Supported Independent Living may suit NDIS participants who need regular support with daily living, shared accommodation, personal care, supervision or complex care needs.
This service may help participants who are transitioning into supported accommodation, developing independent living skills, learning shared living routines, or requiring ongoing assistance in a safe and supported home environment.
It may also support participants with high support needs, behaviour support plans, complex care needs or Specialist Disability Accommodation requirements where suitable and approved.
Supported Independent Living is generally accessed through the NDIS and is intended for participants who require regular support with daily living in a shared or supported accommodation setting.
Funding and eligibility will depend on the participant’s NDIS plan, assessed support needs, goals and accommodation requirements. Specialist Disability Accommodation has separate eligibility requirements and is generally for participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.
EC Care can work with participants, families, guardians and support coordinators to discuss available support options and the next steps for supported accommodation.
